Policy researcher
Nathan J. Remillard
Scholar and policy researcher focused on drug policy, environmental policy, and health care policy — with the range to go wherever the question leads. I care about rigorous analysis, honest and accessible writing, the wellbeing of people, and research that actually has something to say.
Drug policy
Criminalization, harm reduction, epistemic power, lived experience, and what the evidence actually shows
How policy shapes drug use outcomes, who bears the costs, whose knowledges are priviledged in decision making, and where reform is overdue.
Environmental policy
Pollution, climate change, and who pays the price
Environmental burdens don't fall equally. I'm interested in the interaction of environmental policy, population health, and the communities that absorb the cost of inaction.
Health care policy
Access, equity, reform, and the architecture of American care
Examining how health systems are built, who they serve well and who they overlook, where reforms are needed, and how to optimize to improve health outcomes at the population level.
Other work
Teaching, analysis, creative endeavors, and projects that do not fit one box
TA experience, generalist scholarship, and work that crosses the usual disciplinary lines.
